Onkyo muscling its way to the top
(...) The uncompressed PCM soundtrack to "Flags of our Fathers" is given the full Onkyo treatment: dynamic scope, wide-open soundstage and stern effects placement. There´s grip and grunt, but also detail and nuance from the quietest or most complex moments. It never sounds less than poised and natural.
(...) Right on the money. The TX-SR605 is built to last, sets itself up accurately via the bundled mic, is simple to use via the remote or fascia, and sonically and spec-wise it´s right on the money.
(...) For: Spec, build and ergonomics work; fulminating film soundtrack ability.
(...) Verdict: There is no stopping Onkyo just now - the TX-SR605 has a surfeit of talent, especially where movie sound is concerned - a must-hear unit.

EISA Award for Onkyo AV-Receiver TX-SR605
Onkyo's TX-SR605 is a very talented performer. It’s the first AV Receiver to include HDMI 1.3, and offer decoding of new sound formats such as DTS-HD and Dolby True HD. But it’s also a powerful home cinema amplifier that provides a true 7.1-channel output, compatibility with 1080p and Deep Color (xvYCC) video signals, as well as Faroudja de-interlacing. The built-in Audyssey 2EQ enables swift and easy automatic calibration in any room, but what’s really amazing is the extremely competitive price. The Onkyo is a superb future-proof buy for the true enthusiast and the more cost-conscious consumer alike.
