Home cinema leader Onkyo has launched the world’s first true one-box, high definition (HD) surround system, designed specifically to add a new dimension to the typically ‘so-so’ sound quality typical of the latest flatscreen TVs. The innovative HTX-22HD 2.1-channel digital home cinema system is based around a “one-box” A/V amplifier with built-in subwoofer and comes with two front satellite speakers. The system has built-in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoders that allow it reproduce bit-for-bit high definition surround sound, making the HTX-22HD a superb partner for the latest generation Blu-ray and DVD players, gaming consoles and digital television receivers. Onkyo is also proud to announce that the HTX-22HD is also the world’s first system to incorporate DTS Surround Sensation. Unveiled at CES 2008 this long-awaited new software algorithm delivers a virtual 5.1 surround sound experience from just two speakers. For dedicated home cinema fans, purchasing an optional, add-on package of centre-speaker and two rear surround speakers can transform the HTX-22HD into a fully-fledged 5.1 system – all the necessary speaker terminals are already located at the rear of the main unit. Excellent sound quality and ease of ease were the top priorities for Onkyo during the development of the HTX-22HD. For that reason, the system includes Audyssey 2EQ room calibration to precisely match surround sound to your home. It also includes the new Audyssey Dynamic EQ loudness correction technology – found in Onkyo’s new generation standalone AV receivers - for dynamic, detailed surround sound even at low volumes. Thanks to the inclusion of RIHD (Remote Interactive via HDMI) the user can also integrate and seamlessly operate the system with selected HDMI-equipped playback sources and TVs from other manufacturers.


HDMI™ (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)
The latest in digital interface technology is here and it goes by the name of HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface). This high-bandwidth interface supports not only remarkable amounts of uncompressed digital video but audio as well. Up to 5 Gbps of data, more than twice what’s needed for a high-definition movie with surround sound, can be handled with room for future requirements.
All this data is kept in the digital domain as there are no D/A or A/D conversions needed to ensure the highest sound and video quality available. Unparalleled amounts of compressed or uncompressed digital audio and video—up to 5 Gbps of data—can be handled with just one high-speed cable.
 
Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC)
Conventional D/A conversion methods reduce digital pulse noise at the conversion stage but can’t remove it completely. Previously only found on Onkyo’s high-end components, VLSC (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry)employs a unique D/A conversion circuit to overcome this problem. Data is converted between sampling points and these points are joined with analogue vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result - a virtually noiseless, smooth analogue signal based on the digital source.
 
Theater Dimensional
You can experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers.
Onkyo's exclusive Theater-Dimensional circuitry takes the complexity out of conventional surround-sound setups and lets you experience the excitement of surround sound from as few as two ordinary speakers. Want more? Theater-Dimensional's unique multi-speaker modes let you place up to five speakers conveniently by the TV, for the most realistic virtual-surround sound possible.
 
DTS-HD® Master Audio Codec for Next-Generation Audio
The leading audio codecs for the new multichannel formats for Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD are Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Both technologies enable a lossless, bit-forbit reproduction that is identical to that of the studio master. In other words, the same audio quality as in the studio engineer’s final mix. All high-resolution channels can be received from compatible Blu-ray Disc, PlayStation® 3, HD DVD and Xbox™ 360 components.

Audyssey 2EQ+DYNAMIC EQ
Dynamic EQ solves the problem of deteriorating sound quality at lower volumes. The professionals who create music and movies do so at reference levels much louder than typical home listening levels. When volume is reduced on a standard home theater receiver, the bass disappears, voices change, and the surround soundstage becomes less enveloping. As volume is adjusted on an A/V receiver with Dynamic EQ, the best possible frequency response and surround levels are selected moment-by-moment. This results in an ideal listening experience at any volume level.
 
A-OMF
Up to now, unwanted vibrations have come from the center cap. With A-OMF Monocoque, hte center cap and woofer are covered by a single diaphragm.
