In this video we will be showing you how to install the UWF-1 Wireless Adapter to connect your AV receiver to your home network. The optional UWF-1 is available for network-capable Onkyo A/V receivers (TX-NRxx9 and later) and stereo receivers (e.g. TX-8050).

Will the UWF-1 work with HT-S6505?
Hello Lasse, the 6505 is UBT 1 updatable only. The UWF1 is not supported.
Hi, I have a onkyo TX-8050 and I'm using the UWF 1 for the internet connection. Everything is working fine, but the almost everytime I start the onkyo the internet connection is lost (for using spotify and vTuner internetradio). Then i have to go to USB and do a 'refresh'. After one or two 'refreshes' it goes back to work. Sometimes, when I listen a while to spotify or vTuner (vTuner messages 'cannot play'), the internetconnection 'disconnects' and then I have to do a refresh again. Can this be fixed in any way??? Thx in advance!
have you tried changing the transmission channel on your router & taken a look at giving the 8050 a fixed IP instead of DHCP.
Thx. I've changed the transmission channel and I have already a better signal, but giving a fixed IP is more difficult. I'll keep trying...any tips? Meanwhile it seems I have more difficulties with 'entering' spotify, while vTuner and Aupeo are working better. Strange isn't it?
Hi Onkyo,I have some questions regarding the UWF-1 wireless adaptor (European model if that is important):1) Is it compatible with the TX-NR818 receiver (European model again)?2) On the above receiver can it be installed on either the front or the rear USB ports?3) It is stated on your website that the UWF-1 does not work with networks with a hidden SSID. Does this mean that the SSID needs to be broadcast at all times for the UWF-1 to work, or does it only need to be broadcast during initial connection to the network, and then could be hidden afterwards and still allow the UWF-1 to operate? Thanks
Dear Mr. Perry, answers to your questions: 1 - yes; 2 - only front (you probably will damage the rear usb, because it needs more power); 3 - the SSID must not be hidden when using the UWF-1 (not only during setup, but also during use).
Hi Peter, the SSID needs to be broadcast all of the time for the UWF-1 to work
Hmm, seems less than ideal, so an iPod can only use the front USB and so can the UWF. And I've never heard of a wi-fi device that needs the SSID broadcast after initial setup. Follow up question: With the UWF-1 plugged into the front USB slot, will the front flap be able to fully close? Thanks
Dear Mr. Perry, the front flap will not close if you use the UWF-1.
Thanks for that answer. Seems like it would be better if the UWF-1 could be used in the rear USB slot. otherwise it only seems to get in the way. Maybe something to consider for your future products?
Hi, I've got the UWF-1 setup on the nr818 without a problem, but there seems to be some streaming issues with my device? Simfy as well as streaming from a local device on the network causes stuttering, with Simfy regularly buffering. Aupeo seems to work better, but this might be due to the lower audio quality it streams (<192kbps). Other local devices streams simfy fine on the receiver. The receiver is located +- 8m from a 300Mbps type n router with clear line of sight. Is there any way of improving the streaming to stream without buffering? Will a wired network connection work better?
Hello Pieter, please test for function again with wired connection.
Hi. wired to the router is ALWAYS better, but for some people not possible, but if you can try it please do, also the other thing to consider is your broadband connection to your home may have something to do with it. You can always do a speed check & monitor if the stuttering happens at certain points of the day ,for example 7pm and midnight, this could also be a cause. Please let me know how you get on.
I'm trying to connect my Onkyo TX-NR818 - a great receiver - to my home network using the UWF-1. Before starting I updated the receiver to the latest firmware, removed all special characters from the Wifi password (read that here), but still no luck. The Wifi uses WPA2PSK security. When I disable all security I can connect to the network, but I can't connect to any resource that requires a password, like spotify. Please advise
Hi, it does sound like a security issue, you could try a fixed IP on the AVR, and then in the firewall settings allowing the AVR IP unrestricted access.
This doesn't help...And even if it would, I'm would have no security activated on my Wifi signal. Even when using only lowercase letters in the secuty pass of the router doesn't help. It's like there something wrong with the input of passwords...
Onkyo team. I am having issues with my TX NR609 amplifier. I recently purchased a UWF-1 wifi adapter but I just cant not get it to connect to my wi fi network. I have seen the video posted which shows how to do that. I go into usb mode, it detects my wifi access point, i input the password....and thats it. It just goes into 'connecting' mode and the whole amp freezes after that. infact I have to power the amp down to get it to work again. Please advise possible solutions. Ive tried it a number of times but it seems to me a failed purchase of a wifi router.
Hi Kashif, The most common cause of this problem is having WPA set as the security protocol on the router - the U-WF1 doesn't like WPA so you should enter your router setup and set it to WEP - that should cure your problem.
Will try
Hello Mark.I buy a UWF-1 for my BD-SP309 but, how do i Set up to wifi? can u help me?Regards
Hi Juan, the uwf-1 if for the range of AV Receivers not the BD player, it will not work .
Hi I messed up with my UWF1 DHCP settings and now i cannot connect any more, how do you reset to factory defaults?
Press vcr+standby button sametime on receiver?
is that uwf1 reset or receiver reset?
Receiver..did you mean uwf1 reset?
yes uwf1 reset
I manage to repair it
Hi, How can I re-run setup for the UWF-1? It froze on the screen after I put in my network p/w and had the options for Refresh, and Back. Selecting the NET input does not display anything on my TV either, just a blank blue screen. Thanks.
Just select the USB input to enable you to re-scan/reset the wireless connection, what screen are you using ? you should not be getting a blue screen on the net page......
Loving my txnr609 but as for wireless adapters, am I stuck to only using Onkyos own UWF1?
I am afraid so, unless you consider the 'Home Plugs' that create a high speed network using your mains points around your home.
