Hi. I have a TX-NR717 wich I seem to have a small problem with. I have run the initial setup, and used the microphone to calibrate the speakers, and I have great sound. However, it seems to set the subwoofer level a little high, so I've tried to adjust it by going "reciever-setup-audio-subwoofer level" with the remote, and then adjusting it to a level more appropriate for me. Settings made this way seems to "reset" whenever the reciever is turned off.For example if i adjust "Subwoofer level" from -6db and down to -10db, and then turn of the reciever, when I turn it back on, it's back to -6db, wich is kinda annoying. I've updated to the last firmware (1131-0104-0200-0000), and tried resetting factory defaults, but still it's the same. Is there something I do wrong, or is there normal or is there something wrong?
I'm really dissapointed in onkyo, I bought an TX-NR717 receiver lees than a year ago, now its dead, sometimes its starts up, and most of the times its dead, its not powering up at all, in total i spent a lot of money, because i bought the receiver and a blueray discplayer, and i can't use it at all.I send onkyo an email, and they didnt reply to my email.I'm very dissapointed, and when I'm not able to repair my reciever, I will never in my life, buy onkyo angain, because it's bad quality, and very bad customer service.
Hi, are there any problems know with the Onkyo TX-NR717. Last night I switched it off and when I wanted to switch it on the receiver was dead (and no clicking sounds). I've checked all the fuses and they're ok.
Hi! Just a though i got in my mind on my way home!As far I know, most or everyone have large front speakers and smaller center and surround speakers. Why not build a reciever with for example 2*250 WRMS front channels and 3/5*100 WRMS surround/center channels? Why? Because its usually the powersupply and the capacitators that's to small, with this setup you will save capacitator and powersupply load, and use it on the front speakers instead, which is the channel most people need extra power!I have seen car amplifiers with a seperate channel for subwoofer which are a little bit more powerful than the other channels! Is this hard, have someone tried it before? People with more expensive use the pre-out and "Final step" amplifier. But for the people that have low budget, this would be usefull. Thanks for reading! regards a happy owner of a TX-NR717B!

Danke Mike
Sehr geehrter Herr Jungkamp, die Signale liegen am Preout und am Lautsprecherausgang an, von jeder Quelle.
Danke für die schnelle Antwort!
Hi Onkyo:I recently bought myself the Onkyo TX-NR717B for use in my livingroom. So far, I still can't get video/picture onto my Samsung UE55C6705 (newest firmware) from the main HDMI out on this reciever. All of the inputs on my tv works if I put the PS3 directly to it.I've also bought a new HDMI cable just to be sure, same result. I also tried another TV with same results. However, if I activate the secondary HDMI out on the reciever, and connect my tv to it, I get picture and sound.I then checked the firmware on my 717B unit, and it's (according to the display on the unit) 1080-6100-??00-0000. (Yes, it does say ??)I figured this wasn't the latest update, so I downloaded the latest from your website, put it onto a USB memory stick and tried updating. Wich it turns out, I can't do because I can't access the OSD from secondary output, and I can't figure out how to update it from the units control panel, if it's even possible. So now I've kinda run out of options. I kinda need this to work to keep peace in my house, but looks like I'm probably need to return it if no one can give me a helpful tip or solution. I've tried resetting (CBL/SAT+power button so that diplay tells me "CLEAR" and reboots) and I've tried unplugging power lots of times, and tried all settnings I could imagine via the front panel. Can anyone help me?
You do update? I Think this symbols in nummber "??" told - procedure not complete. Try one more time.
This was how it came from the shop. I finally made it to the firmware update after resetting the controller. So I'm running the firmware update now, I'll see if it gets any better :)
So, I completed the update, and the firmware now tells me it's 1100-7101-??00-0000. Still the exact same probem. I've run the firmware update twice. I'm redownloading the zip file from Onkyo now, and trying that in case of a corrupted file, but that seems unlikely.Edit: Same problem/no chance even after updating firmware for the third time. Tried everything once again, swiching HDMI, inputs, tv, and setting, still no luck. Firmware still shows 1100-7101-??00-0000. Tried the NET update on the reciever aswell. Same thing.
Hello Kenneth, please try uploading the FW update via USB and test for function again. After successfull upload msg should be update complete. LINK--->http://www.de.onkyo.com/de/artikel/firmware-update-tx-nr717-24-07-2012-82772.html
Hello. I've already done the firmware update 4 times in total, 3 times using USB, 1 time using the internet. Firmware version are now 1100-7101-??00-0000, but no change in the functionality/problem. The firmware update showed "Complete" all times.
I have the same problem but with my tx nr616 and my xbox360. I have the newest firmware and i have tried all different settings i can possibly change to. But only audio comes through and no video...
I think the ?? part of it refers to a part of the memory/firmware who hasn't been properly installed. Since it doesn't change after firmware upgrades, I think maybe it could be a hardware/memory fault so that it fails to write the firmware to that part. But I'm no engineer, so I'm probably wrong :-)
Just bought the TX-NR717 and surprised by the low resolution on OSD. Can't find any settings in user manual to improve this. Picture from cable box and BD through HDMI are fine though...
Hi Tom the OSD is generated at 480p in all AVR models, this has been the case since the x5 series, There have been many improvements to the OSD over the years & I expect there to be even more over the coming years.
Thanks for the quick response Mark.
Does this mean that the OSD might be updated in the near future through e.g. firmware upgrade? It's really no biggie since the OSD is rarely seen but I was really surprised by the low resolution. Thanks in advance...
få deg et normalt liv, gadget freak
I think that it will develop over time (on later models) but it will be some time before you see HD OSD.
Tom, normalt ville jeg sagt meg enig med Øvrum, men etter at du fiksa slingbox i Norge og norsk TV i Aten, så nøyer jeg meg med et forsiktig "HÆ ?"
