Hi, I would like my Onkyo TX-NR709 to support ALAC format. I now store flac and alac files on my Nas. Flac for my Onkyo and ALAC for my iPhone. Apple will burn down before they support flac so my hope is on you. Please support ALAC in the new firmware.
Hi Rob, I will pass your request onto engineering.
Hi, TX-NR709 can to set PC IN output to projector(VGA).
Hello Chatchai, you can not switch the PC input (VGA) to an output. You need an additional hardware, an HDMI to VGA converter.
Hi . The PC input (VGA) cannot be configured as an output, you have to use the HDMI out, you may be able to find a device that converts the HDMI to a analogue signal for your projector.
Thank you.
Hi can somebody please help me.I have the tx nr 709 and lately my klipsch sub that is hooked up to my amp seems to get distorted every once in a while.then eventually stop working but my other 5 speakers work perfectly through this.ill shut my system off for about 15 min and turn back on everything seems fine.it really happend during heavy bass scenes. Is my sub going bad or is it my amp.I think its my sub but not sure.what do you think?
And when I turn the volume on my sub up and down.it sound distorted sometimes.
Hello Russell, perhaps your dealer could assist you in testing the amp for function with another sub. Othervice please contact one of our authorized Onkyo Servicepoints under the following link for further support.LINK--->http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/authorised-service-points-378.html
Hello,I posted this question in august about problem of little random cut in the sound with DTS-HD HR (I copy/past it above).I also found this problem since on other soundtracks : 101 Dalmatians (French track) and Terminator (Original sound track) both in DTS-HD HR.I think you could see the problem on any Blu-ray with this audio format (But as this is totally random, this requires looking at the whole movie to see).Thank you very much if a solution can be found.Regards,"Have you heard about a bug with the DTS-HD HR decoding (no problem with the DTS HD-MA) on the tx-nr709 ?I found some people on forums who have the same bug with this format. For me it's on the french track of "The Avengers" wich is in DTH-HD HR. During the movie, there are lot of little cut (I would say about 20, totaly random). Is there a way to hope a firmware update about that ?Thanks a lot for your return.Regards,"
Hello Simon, please test a better quality HDMI cable. Also test for function with another HDMI input of your AVR.
I will try to do that.Nevertheless, why a better quality cable for a sound format with a lower bitrate than DTS-HD MA (which work perfectly) ?
Hi, Have you tried playing those same disc's with a different BD player just to see what happens ?
I play with a PS3. I will try with an other player (very cheap but why not). You do not reproduce the problem on your end otherwise? Thanks a lot for your help anyway
Hi, I tested both movies on all sound tracks without any issue at all.
I'm using a TX-NR709 and very pleased with it but last weekn I wanted to listen to some streaming radio via vTuner and it seems all the BBC stations I have in my favourites are not playing anymore. They play fine via the bbc website and other stations play as expected via vTuner on my amp. Any clues?
Hi, I will take a look at this for you today and see If I can get an answer for you by the end of the day.
Much appreciated, thanks.
HI Chris, I am finding the same thing, the stations play well if directly selected, but when saved into the memory on a preset, I am starting to think its something to do with the way the BBC do their streaming, because I don't get the issue on other non BBC channels. I do know for a fact the the BBC don't like people NOT using the iplayer to listen and watch stuff, & this may well be why this happens. I am going to look into this but I am expecting it to be a long process because the BBC are terrible at getting back to people ( and I know someone who works there, & I can't get anything other than a automated response). Merry Xmas.
Thanks for looking into it Mark, fingers crossed the BBC will sort it out!
Just to say that I tried again yesterday evening and BBC 6 music is streaming again!
I own an Onkyo TX-NR 709 A/V receiver. After firmware updating all HDMI outputs stopped working. I have reset my receiver for several times and tried to upgrade it again . No success, it shows time out error 5-82
Hello Andreey, sorry to hear that. Please contact our authorized Onkyo Service-Point under the following link in your country for further support of your unit. ---> http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/authorised-service-points-378.html
There is only one authorized service point in Russia and it is about 8000 km from my home. No way.
Hi,I have problem with Onkyo TX-NR709 and Samsung 46D6510 - ARC ProblemMy setup is as followsOnkyo TX-NR7009HDMI 1.4 connected to "HDMI Out- Main"RIHD activatedAudio Return Channel: AutoSource setup (Audio Selector): ARCSamsung 46D6510AnyNet+ OnReceiver On (only available after RIHD activated on gthe reciever)HDMI to reciever connected to HDMI2When I switch off the TV and the receiver and then switch on again, the sound does not come through the reciever. It doesn't appear to matter as to whether the receiver or the TV are switched on first. I have tried this manually. To restore the TV sound through the receiver I have turned on the TV with the source set "TV", then changed the source it to HDMI2, then change the source back to TV again. Surely this is not right. Is there a firmware bug(TV or receiver)? Are there other option settings that I need to check?Related to this - what settings (different or more) are required to send sound down the optical cable from the TV to the receiver as alternative to the ARC setting
Dear RastislavThank you for your email. We are sorry to hear about the issues with your setup. It sounds like an HDMI Handshake problem. In some cases it helps to up grade your HDMI cables to a better quality standart. Please check for available updates on all devices also.http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/articles/firmware-update-tx-nr709-05-07-2012-53094.htmlWhen using opt. or coaxial dig. cable for sound, please assign source to input.
Hi, I changed the HDMI cable from standart to 1.4 certficate cable. I try some types of cable - nothing happens. My firmware its newest. I think, problem is ARC - compatibility between Onkyo and Samsung.
Hello. I own a tx-nr709B and it's hooked up to a xbmc media center. Sometimes (often) while starting to play videos I get some sort of loud static / white noise. It goes away by itself after a while or if i restart playback / press skip a couple of times. I was wondering if this could be a defect or if my setup is wrong somehow, been trying all kinds of different things but nothing seems to make it go away. Any advice would be appreciated. My second question, does the receiver send cec? Is it possible to send commands directly to my media center which also supports cec, or do i need to do that through my tv?
mmmm, sounds like the xbmc is not outputting a stable enough bitsream signal for the 709 to lock onto, it could be down to a setting issue in the HDMI card, what hardware are you using to run xvmc ( I ask only because it is available on a few platforms). All Onkyo AVR's support CEC but it does depend on your display & source on what options have been installed. What are you looking for exactly ?
Platform is Linux, using openelec on an old shuttle (AM2) with ati radeon hd 5570. Could it be the hdmi cabel? Regarding cec I want to control my media center with the onkyo remote, in my setup I have a optoma gt750 projector, could not find any info regarding cec on it so I was wondering if I could use cec between the avr and xbmc in some way... xbmc support for cec is via libcec.
It was not the hdmi cable...
Have you tried running the audio separately, via an optical cable & configuring the AVR to accept the optical instead of the HDMI, you won't get TrueHD or DTS master but you will get 5.1 if the xbmc outputs it .
I don't have optical in on my media center:/ Is this likely to be a problem with the signal from the media center and not how it is processed on the avr? I have a raspberry pi and I get the same noise.
or a coax digital either is fine.
I get the same hissing noise when using my ps3, so surely there is nothing wrong with my media center. I have analog jack outputs or hdmi via the video card, that's it. Although I don't see how that will solve anything.
hello, since I placed my tx-nr709 in new funiture (closed), I have to use the android app as remote control. Fun ! but can you make android tablet version as well ? so I don't have to keep my tablet on it's side :-) and now it's a blown up phone version, what makes the graphics blurred. would be nice !
I think a tablet version is in the pipeline, but as yet I have had no info as yet, One of the apps O use on my iPad is Oremote / OnkyTroller Pro ,have you tried either of these ?
