Hi I'm planning to buy TX-NR515 avr mainly because of its features and the budget.. ist it a right option?? any suggestions pls..
The AVR you buy is always dependent on what YOU want it to do ........Its always good to listen to others, but when it comes down to it you cannot beat a demo, So I recommend going to a dealer & getting him to set it up and have a listen. Then if it sounds good to you ,then that is the right choice for you .
Hi, I have the following problem that occurs every 3-4 months on my tx-nr515: my Spotify playlists become unresponsive, when clicking a playlist I get the "this list is empty" message. I create a new Spotify playlist on my laptop, populate it, and it appears on the amplifier as well, but when clicking the playlist it shows that it is empty. I really would like to find a way to fix it without the hard reset, as I really don't want to do all the calibrations and settings from the beginning after a hard reset. Thanks in advance!
I have requested an answer from HQ for you.
thank you, Mark
an addition to the issue described above: logged out of Spotify and now am repeatedly unable to log back in, getting "login error", have tried it with 2 Spotify accounts with the same result. Looks like it's on the Onkyo side
Hi Slava, I am onto this & discussing with a colleague of mine .
We need to know if the titles in your playlist are on Spotify or are they on your local PC ??
Hi Mark, all the titles in playlists are on Spotify only, I can see the populated playlists on my on all of my devices, but not on the amp. I have done a hard reset but it had not helped
Thanks for the info, I shall pass this on & hopefully get a speedy answer for you.

Thnks, top!
Where's 607?
Your products suck end of
is also a Firmware Update for the 818 planned ?
Why is the 509 not listed on the site??
it is - the link just points to a general download site, ignore the list there. if you search e.g. for 509 you will find the link to Firmware Update TX-NR509 (11-04-2013)
Do current settings get wiped with a firmware update?
no, i just did the update on the TX NR 509 and the settings did not get wiped
Cheers for that, my NR 509 now has no sound whatsoever and is just outside of its warranty. Now what?
TX-NR509 right here folks: http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/articles/firmware-update-tx-nr509-11-04-2013-53085.html
Unfortunately not support TX-NR807 :(
What does it do?
Worked fine for the TX-NR509 via wired LAN.
My TX-NR5010 shuts down the display during the update, and I have to pull the power cord, to get i to respond again. and now, the firmware states 1040-4103-0100-0000, instead of 1060-4103-0100-0000. Is that ok? Everything works.
EDIT: Everything worked after a reset. It now states 1060-4103-0100-0000.
Graham Andrew Rutland. I have the same problem
I just updated my NR509 and I lost sound, NET and USB functionality. Is the only solution the service center in this situation?I have tried reset and plugging the cord, but neither of those makes no change to the amp.
Hello Riku - sorry, but in this case the best thing would really be to go to a service center. You can find one that is close to you here: http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/authorised-service-points-378.html
Isn't there anything I can do myself instead of going to a service center? Has the same problem as Riku and Graham. Lost sound, Network, USB on my TX-NR509.
I've a new 4 week old tx nr515 that is giving me problems with HDMI....I keep getting flickering and speckles at random times on all devices connected....
How long is the HDMI lead, from the AVR to the display ??
5 m
now the question is ........do you have another you could try (borrow) because it sounds like there is interference on the line, which could be poor shielding on the HDMI lead.......what brand is it ?
Soooo... Any news regarding the shuffle option with the spotify app? Would hate to spend lots of money on a usb bluetooth dongle for this purpose alone.TX-NR 515 with the -0400 firmware (latest)
awaiting the delivery of of my Onkyo TX-NR515 , excited. it should prove to be a nice replacement for yamaha rxv 359 wich doesnt quite power my jamo s506 , hope this reciever will power them nicely.
The Jamo speakers are 4 Ohm and normally quite sensitive so I cannot see any problems at all.
Mine are 6 ohm with a sensitivity rating of 89 db and handling capacity of 130w long term, 180w short term . Don't know if in europe the jamo's are different? They do sound really good though.
I chose the 515 based on the fact that it seems an almost perfect match. To bi-amp or not to bi-amp is the last decision I face.
that my friend....is a personal choice, so will say do it ....others say you don't need to. Personally (and if you have a Sub in the system) just use really good speaker cable and single wire & put a small link of the same cable across the terminal ( get rid of those nasty links) and set the sub to 80Hz , the cross over to all of the other speakers to 80Hz......sit back and enjoy (but thats me personally).
I need support for my TX-NR515. USB & dnla playback doesn't work, i can see the tracks and song names, but when trying to play nothing happens just hangs 0:00/4.32. like it's missing all the codec's.I have updated the latest firmware via USB whit no problems. Also tried resetting factory defaults.
Hello Ari, USB---> Please send us 1 MP3 test file. DLNA---> When using a hard drive, please test again after updating (harddrive).
Which will give the better sound from 3d Bluray? 1.4 hdmi or optical cable to tx nr515?
For BluRay it is better to use HDMI, because it will support more audio formats. Optical cables support only 5.1 ACC (16 bit) sound. They do NOT support Dolby True-HD or DTS-HD (24 bit) sound. The ONLY way to get high definition sound is through an HDMI cable
Thanks for the advice.
Boys and toys lol
Julie, don't start. Else I mention your toys!Only asking, so can set up correctly.
Hi, HDMI is the way to go ! its the best connection for the HD audio formats. Optical will support upto a maximum of Dolby Digital/DTS 5.1 discrete channels.
Thanks mark.
Hi there. I'd like to know how I can listen to music (from a CD or DS-A5/AirPlay) whilst simultaneously watching tv (obviously sans soundtrack) on my TX-NR515. Tx Matt
Yes you can, it does depend on your configuration depends on how you would do it, but the simplest way is to select the source that you want to LISTEN to on the AVR and then just put the TV on the channel you want to WATCH & thats it .
Thanks guys!
Hello Matt, it is possible to listen to music from CD or DSA 5 from Zone 2 ( must be connceted analog), while watching TV from Zone 1.
I have connected my Onkyo TX-NR515 Receiver to my windows PC, running vista OS. but i getting a failed AV Receiver Device Driver Installation. and i can't find it anywhere. can anyone help.
The video output must match DDWG standards which are 480p / 576p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p / 1080 24p @ 50/60/24Hz some video cards have a 'Force HDTV' box ,please tick this The audio settings should Bitstream Dolby Digital @48KHzIf the PC is outputting anything other than than then strange things are going to happen, Please check your settings and then let me know.
