Onkyo upgrades its Android App to allow Direct 'In-App' Access to Spotify

With immediate effect owners of selected Onkyo network AV receivers will be able to download a firmware update that enables direct support for Spotify Premium via Onkyo’s Remote App for Android. The Android App itself has also been updated.
Compatible Onkyo AVRs are as follows:-
TX-NR609/709/809/1009/3009/5009 and PR-SC5509
Additionally, towards the end of November 2011 Onkyo will also extend direct support for Spotify Premium via Onkyo’s Remote App for Android to the TX-NR509 network AV receiver, the HT-S6405 and HT-S9405THX AV receiver/speaker packages and last, but not least, the TX-8050 network stereo receiver.
At this time Onkyo will also issue a firmware upgrade that allows owners of all its network products with Spotify support to access the service using Facebook account details.
‘Enabling direct support for Spotify via our Remote App for Android represents a major step forward when it comes to ease of use and convenience for our consumers’, says Nick Hamada, Onkyo Europe’s product and marketing manager.
