Onkyo Releases Remote App for AndroidPress Release dated: 25 Jul 2011
Home cinema and hi-fi audio specialist Onkyo is demonstrating its ongoing commitment to greater home entertainment convergence with the release of a new application for the Android mobile platform. Onkyo’s Remote App for Android allows owners to stream audio wirelessly from an Android-based device to their Onkyo A/V or hi-fi system, as well as providing a wide range of remote control functions.
Operating over a wireless local network, the application allows Onkyo owners to play music stored on an Android device through a networked Onkyo audio system. Music played through an Onkyo home cinema or hi-fi system gains far greater power and fidelity than you’ll ever hear via a smartphone!
Users can browse networked content without needing to view or operate onscreen menus on a connected TV display. Instead, they can use the touch-screen GUI on their Android device to navigate menus and control a variety of functions, such as selecting the input source or adjusting the volume and tone. Furthermore, users can control the output in individual zones in a multi-room distributed audio set-up.
Available in August as a free download from the Android market, the Remote App for Android will be compatible with all of Onkyo’s 2011 range of network A/V receivers, as well as with the new TX-8050 stereo network receiver.
