Onkyo Adds Spotify Connect to Selected 2014-Model A/V Receivers and HTiB PackagesPress Release dated: 3 Sep 2014
OSAKA, JAPAN. Home theater specialists Onkyo announce Spotify Connect integration on selected 2014-model Wi-Fi®-enabled network A/V receivers, controllers, and Home-Theater-in-a-Box (HTiB) packages, adding an exciting new dimension to its award-winning audio-video components and providing customers with a wider choice of wireless music streaming options.
Owners of the TX-NR535, TX-NR636, TX-NR737, TX-NR838, TX-NR1030, and, TX-NR3030 network A/V receivers; the PR-SC5530 Network A/V Controller; HT-S7705, and HT-S9700THX home theater packages can enable Spotify Connect via a firmware update available later this year.
Spotify Premium allows subscribers to stream music to their compatible Onkyo A/V component directly from the Spotify smartphone and tablet app. As well as offering an intuitive interface from which to explore a library of over 20 million tracks, the application provides clear and simple remote control anywhere within wireless range. And because Spotify Connect is built into the receiver, subscribers are free to make calls or use other apps without interrupting music playback. The service also moves seamlessly between Wi-Fi, LAN, and 3G to ensure smooth and continuous playback with fewer dropouts.
Music lovers can try Spotify Premium free for 30 days with a monthly subscription enabling high-quality audio streaming to any compatible device as well as offline playback capability and no commercials.
“Spotify Connect puts a whole universe of music at your fingertips,” said Onkyo Corporation General Manager, Kevin Miyagi. “Together with our existing music streaming options, Spotify Connect lets our customers enjoy what they want, when they want it with powerful and dynamic Onkyo sound.”
Spotify Connect joins a raft of next-generation features on selected Onkyo A/V receivers and HTiB packages, including Dolby Atmos® multidimensional sound, 4K/60 Hz video via HDMI® 2.0, HDCP 2.2 copy-protection supporting streamed 4K video, built-in Wi-Fi for high-resolution network audio, and Bluetooth with Advanced Music Optimizer. This deep functionality and simple usability is complemented by a high-current amplification system that guarantees a powerful and immersive experience for movies, music, and games.
